Property and Vehicle Rental Fleet in USA
I used to spend up to 3 months a year in the USA, primarily because I love the country and was particularly fond of Las Vegas (with its live music and nightlife) and Nashville; home of country music.
During a trip over Christmas in 2023, I decided to invest in a holiday home in Orlando, Florida. I adore the ‘Sunshine State’ (beats “SAD” and the gloomy grey of UK winters) and thought it would make a great base for enjoying more of this fantastic country.
However, within an hour or two of the ink drying on the purchase contract for a smart condominium (apartment or holiday home), I quickly realised there was potentially a market opportunity to rent out the property for the remaining nine months or so each year while I was not in the US.
“Unsurprisingly”, as people who know me would say, following a very short period of reflection and conversations with individuals on the ground at the time, I felt sure I could quickly make money from my investment.
This rapidly developed into a formalised process of discovery, and I almost immediately set up a limited liability company (Go Orlando Vacation Rentals LLC) in the United States and began to put together a business plan to maximise returns as soon as possible.
However, in further discussion with other property owners and the HOA (Homeowners’ Association) on the beautiful country park on which the condo is situated, I quickly established that there was also room (both physically and from an opportunity perspective) to acquire and base a rental car fleet on the park.
Before returning to UK after my vacation, I bought three brand-new cars and immediately put them to work through Turo, the self-rental car share platform.
Less than a year later, the fleet is 15 vehicles strong, I’ve established a business partnership with a local garage and mechanic for servicing purposes, and the entire fleet is out on the road every day. We are already netting around $8000 per month profit and have already achieved 5-Star Super Host status with Turo.
Since start up I’ve fulfilled all the licensing, permit, and tax requirements (federal, state, county, and city) for the condo and vehicle fleet, and am now in the process of expanding the whole operation. We have a business plan for more condos and apartments, and plan to get the vehicle fleet up to 20 before the end of 2024.
I can help you do the same…
